Everyone has bad days. Recently a string of heartbreaking and unexpected events have taken place. The particulars are private but put it this way, if one more person says “The Lord will give you only what you can bear.” I’ll probably lose it.
Rather than being angry or slacking off, I’m going to do the opposite. A great attitude is the best asset you can have in life.
Here are some examples …
Business Works Better:
Countless times, I’ve explained that products, hard work, innovation, experience and services are important. However, it still stands today that people do business with people they like. If you create honest and kind relationships with people you can build mutually beneficial relationships. It works much better with a good attitude.
It Comes Back to You When You Least Expect It
Anyone who travels often understands that “things happen.” Let’s set aside some of the terrible recent events by large airlines that clearly show disrespect. In general, my assumption is that there will be delays and other issues. However, one time while coming back home from a sales trip all I wanted was my bed. The gate agents announced the flight had been over-booked and called out names one by one including mine to come “discuss the options.” I noticed each individual that came to the agent was upset, short-tempered and rude. When it was my turn, I smiled and simply said, “Just get me back to St. Louis when you can Sir.” The man stopped what he was doing, looked over his glasses at me and said, “Really?” He then typed something in his computer and handed me a ticket. That ticket happened to be in first class. See, does this make sense?
You Widen Your Precious Friends and Family Circle
With a bad attitude, you will not be able to keep people in your life with different political views, backgrounds, lifestyles and variances. How boring would that be? Despite recent personal gloomy life events, I am still happy. An abundance of friends and family have clearly stepped to the plate during these challenging times. When you have a good attitude you attract positive energy. That is extremely important to help you get through the trials of life.
Numerous times growing up my mom stated, “You better put that attitude in check girl.” I’m so glad she did. It’s easier said than done at times! Believe me, the rewards are there.
