Whoops, my apologies!
On Memorial Day I had the pleasure to spend time with my dear friend and her fiancée who came all the way from New Jersey. It was a beautiful day and I was in a peaceful and tranquil mood. My husband and her fiancée decided to check something out and therefore started a walk through our neighborhood, a normally peaceful and happy Cul-De-Sac. My friend left after them with her little Chihuahua. I slowly followed behind.
Before I knew it I saw, our strange neighbor in a corner house yelling at my friend. I immediately went over to see what was going on and before I knew it, this individual was videotaping my friend and me. I still was confused and said his name two times, “What is going on, I’m your neighbor, what is happening here?”
There was no response. I heard my dear friend shout, “Fine call the police!” This is a lady I have known for years and she is one of the kindest individuals you could ever meet, period. I still was confused.
Next, my neighbor’s wife came out and had her “Smart Phone” pointed to us and in big letters I saw KIRWOOD POLICE. Her husband and she seemed to work as a great team or perhaps she does anything he says, who knows. The two decided together it was a call that needed to be made.
I still was in a daze and could not figure out what the heck was happening. Within a minute or so two police vehicles quickly came. At this point I was at a loss. I heard the bizarre neighbors ranting and raving. Then the police asked me, “What is your side of the story here?” That is when I suddenly thought, “Did she pick up her dog’s poop? Could this possibly be the catalyst to this event?” I asked her, “Did you pick up the poop?”
Eventually my husband came with a bag to save the day. I am not saying it’s cool to freely have your dog poop in the neighbor’s yard but then again, was their behavior warranted? Somehow we all dispersed and I was in my front yard and the police pulled up to me and proceeded to give me a lecture. I don’t remember what I said but it was somewhere along the line of A.) This was not my dog and B.) I live here Sir and C.) I’m sorry you were even called out.
Then I thought to myself the absolute absurdity of this. People are dying overseas in wars. Folks in our own country are mourning the loss of loved ones. Each and every one of us goes through struggles. My neighbors are worried about poop? There are rabbits and squirrels that could have left more behind there. This incident was on Memorial Day? A day when we honor all of our Veterans past and present. I truly was upset and then thought, “I need to chill out.” In fact many people simply need to chill out! Life is way too short to worry about Chihuahua Poop.
