Although I am very cautious with spending money, I truly believe real artwork deserves a place in our business’ and homes. There are so many wonderful artists who turned their passion into a career. A very special artist has recently crossed my path and she sets an example of creativity, work ethic and customer service! Here’s the quick story.
Creativity
A couple years ago I attended Art on the Square in Belleville, IL. This was an awesome event featuring hundreds of national and international artists. There were so many booths and it took my friend and I a few hours to look at everything. However, when it was time to go, I walked directly back to Jennifer Cavan’s booth because her artwork was colorful, creative and compelling! I purchased a beautiful painting that is placed in DCSC’s kitchen area so everyone who walks through the door can see it!
Work Ethic
It’s always nice to meet an artist in person but for some reason when I met Jennifer Cavan and her husband, I could tell they were special people. He was so smitten and supportive of her it was sweet. What I learned from Jennifer is that she was in the corporate world (like me) in the past. She had an excellent job in Chicago and made a great living. She decided to take a chance, moved to Angel Fire, New Mexico and pursued her dream doing art full time (and more)! Obviously her success shows you how talent alone can not make you, it takes hard work and perseverance!
Customer Service
OK, if you have not read my blog on how a hand-written note makes all the difference in the world when it comes to customer service, maybe you should. What prompted me to write and post this blog is, you guessed it, a thoughtful hand-written note from Jennifer thanking me for the business. She also was following up to ensure I was satisfied with the investment. Simply put, that is excellent customer service!
